ReplyDeleteYour piece about the Maxo Vanka murals reads very well as a piece of travel journalism. Your descriptions are vivid and help to bring the reader into the church.
You do a good job of providing the reader with background on the murals, and even go further to include what they meant to him and to some of the churchgoers of that time and today.
The piece flows well, specifically when you describe how Vanka painted the murals in water color and lead into their need for restoration, and therefore, donations.
What I would suggest for other pieces is bringing yourself into the piece. To me, that would make for a stellar piece. You already have all of the other elements. You are the traveller after all, and other travellers want to know what they can experience and feel there. I'd love to hear a stronger, more intimate voice in the next piece.
